Job Summary
Performs routine (journey-level) technical and administrative program assistance as a member of the Administrative Services Division of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Primarily responsible for providing services related to all incoming and outgoing mail from the headquarters location and performing quick copy services. Serves as the Lead Additional Duty Safety Officer for the de Zavala building. Serves as backup for security at headquarters, including issuing keys, and all property acquisition, inventory and management services.  Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Tasks
Processes incoming and outgoing mail for TSLAC headquarters.
Serves as the agency's courier.
Performs quick copy services.
Serves as Lead Additional Duty Safety Officer and assists in risk management projects. 
Produces related budget and activity reports. 
Serves as back up to the Asset Management Technician
Assist with the coordination of facility-related repairs, maintenance, and special projects.
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school or GED
One year performing office clerical or administrative support work
One year experience using a personal computer

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the operation and maintenance of complex photocopy and bindery equipment
Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel and Outlook 
Experience as a messenger or delivery driver
Experience in processing mail for a state agency and using state-contracted vendors
Experience administering an employee safety training program
Experience completing periodic activity or status reports

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to lift and move boxes and packages weighing up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand during most of work shift, using hands and arms
Ability to safely operate a 1/2-ton delivery vehicle
Ability to interpret postal regulations and requirements
Ability to maintain effective working relationships and have a customer-service orientation
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to adjust photocopy and bindery equipment for specific operations
Skill in using safety equipment, as required, to minimize exposure to hazards

Environmental/Physical Conditions
Normal office environment subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Must have visual acuity to drive and manual dexterity to operate a computer and regular office equipment. Position is active in nature with frequent walking and standing on concrete flooring. Requires the ability to, drive, perform lifting/moving of boxes/materials weighing up to 40 lbs. Also required is the ability to grasp, push, pull, kneel, stoop and bend repeatedly. Incumbent is required to operate cargo van. Position has frequent contact with external customers which requires a professional demeanor. Normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies.

Other Requirements
Valid Texas Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
Driving record and Criminal history check required of successful candidate.
Occasionally works overtime on nights and weekends for special projects

Reporting Relationships
Has no supervisory responsibility; reports to Human Resources Manager.
